Whatever you call your groups, whether it be home, life, care, small, or big, discipleship happens best in the context of community. Groups can provide fellowship that is connected, authentic, and where people can be intimately known, loved, and valued. It can be hard for this to happen in the context of the larger church community. There are many different strategies and styles for group based ministry in the church. It can be hard work to launch a group ministry well and to create a culture that is open to growth, strategic development, connection, and discipleship, while training leaders with a vision to be inclusive and mission-focused.
